She wears a mermaid costume in what looks like an ocean-themed studio set. Along with the photo, she tweeted, “PROPER planking FTW! #itswhatArielwoulddo.” Rumor has it, the wife of British funnyman Russell Brand is shooting her next music video.

The picture sparks rumor that Katy copied the Mother Monster. Shortly after the image was posted on Katy’s Twitter account, Lady GaGa’s creative director Laurieann Gibson wrote on her Twitter, “Proud of my artist #1 in the world @Ladygaga her vision& passion. even though they try to steal a tail there’s only 1 Mermaid, Swim On!!!” GaGa herself hasn’t responded to the issue.

Earlier this spring, GaGa’s camp hinted that her music video for “Edge of Glory” would be “feeling very fishy.” It was reported that GaGa scrapped the original plan and wanted to slip into the mermaid costume for her next video instead. In a recent interview, GaGa said that the mermaid is her alter ego named Yuyi. She is in incubation, and “may just be born in the next video,” so she said.
