'American Idol' Result: Haley Reinhart Doesn't Make It to Finale

The 20-year-old singer is eliminated from the singing competition on Thursday, May 19, leaving teenage singers Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina to compete for the title in the next week's finale."American Idol" is getting closer and closer to crown its tenth winner. On Thursday night, May 19, the final two contestants standing were announced as Haley Reinhart waved goodbye to her dream to become the next "Idol". Her exit left Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina to battle it out in the finale.

Chicago-born singer Haley was eliminated from the talent show after 95 million votes were cast following the performance night on Wednesday. Although she took a tumble on stage while singing Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be" on the night, she was actually praised by the judges for the performance.

After the elimination announcement, the 20-year-old singer said, "This is the biggest platform anybody could ask for." Trying to stay optimistic, she added, "I rocked it out and I had a blast. It's only the beginning... thanks so much!" Before singing her final song on the show, a cover of Elton John's "Benny & The Jets", she said, "This is only the beginning. Thank you all so much."

The result show also saw a performance by Il Volo and Nicole Scherzinger. The Italian trio sang "O Sole Mio", while the former lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls collaborated with 50 Cent in delivering "Right There".

Scotty and Lauren will compete for the "American Idol" title next Wednesday night, May 25 at 8 P.M. on FOX.
