Tyler Hamilton Accuses Lance Armstrong of Doping EPO


Former professional cyclist Tyler Hamilton has accused the seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong of doping, according to CBS News. Hamilton, a former teammate of Armstrong, said Scott Pelley of CBS in an interview to air soon he and others saw Armstrong EPO inject the drug several times. Hamilton says that Armstrong used EPO during the Tour de France 1999-the first year Armstrong won and to prepare for the 2000 and 2001 races. Hamilton and Armstrong were teammates on the U.S. team the postal service during those years.

“I really did witness?” Pelley asked Hamilton.

“I saw it on your refrigerator. I saw it injected more than once.”

“You saw Lance Armstrong inject EPO?”

“Yeah, like, all we did.”

Lance Armstrong is currently the focus of a federal investigation into doping, a story out of covered in our October 2010 edition. In July, Hamilton was summoned to appear before a federal grand jury. While Hamilton’s lawyer confirmed the subpoena to ESPN.com, would not comment on the testimony of Hamilton program.

After Hamilton won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics, tested positive for a banned blood transfusion. He retired in 2009 after admitting to taking a supplement that contained a banned steroid, and is currently on a eight-year ban from cycling.
