We all know Kanye West is a bit glum faced at the best of times, rarely ever cracking a smile for the cameras whenever he and wife Kim Kardashian are out and about, which is pretty frequently to be fair as they are one of the most in demand couples in the world.
For a man with considerable wealth, a beautiful wife and family and an incredibly successful chart-topping career you'd think he might be more inclined to show us all a little happiness every now and then. But now Kanye, 37, has given us a little insight into why it is he remains stony faced at every given opportunity.
Of course as you might expect Kanye's explanation wasn't exactly straightforward, more a little cryptic and confusing. It was something to do with castles and paintings and the good old days in fact. Righto Kanye.

Talking at the Fashion Los Angeles Awards Kanye gave his reasons, saying: "Back when I was working on Yeezus, I saw this book from the 1800s and it was velvet-covered with brass and everything. I looked at all these people's photos, and they look so real and their outfits were incredible and they weren't smiling."
But that's not all, Yeezy also reckons that not smiling in itself is what makes him feel all warm and chirpy inside - but he still hides it because he just wouldn't look cool if he gave in to his instincts and did flash a grin. The moody rapper added: "People, you know the paparazzi, always come up to me, 'Why you not smiling?' and I think, not smiling makes me smile. When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling because it just wouldn't look as cool."
Come on Kanye, showing us those pearly whites every now and then won't do you any harm you know.
