Chris Brown Has His Identity Stolen – And Advertised Online For $10k

Poor old Chris Brown, he just doesn't have much luck does he? His latest woes have been added to after someone stole his identity and then tried to sell it vis online forums - only to be rumbled by his solicitor who is now on the warpath for whoever was behind the potential deal.

So Chris, 25, is now the victim in his latest criminal investigation. According to TMZ when he left rehab in April last year Chris was taken across the country to Washington D.C. to attend a hearing for assault charges, stopping off at San Bernardino County Jail for a short stay.

Whilst he was there a jail ID card was produced which was left with officials at the prison when he moved on to the next location. That same card has now popped up online. An image of the card was posted on a private Facebook forum where the poster asked for users to get bidding for the card - and the highest bid could take it, with offers flooding in from around $10,000.

How the card was advertised to would be buyers online

However news of the potential sale very quickly got back to Chris' lawyer Mark Geragos who immediately got in touch with the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department to ask what exactly was going on and why the card was no longer in their possession or destroyed.

They in turn launched an investigation which led them to an individual in the area, who they then seized the ID from. The person in question then reportedly told them they got the ID card from a friend who got it from a friend... you get the picture.

Police officers from the department are now trying to piece together the puzzle and see how exactly it came about that the identity card left the possession of the jailers and ended up being touted online for such a hefty sum.
