Superheroes! The Script Rescue Woman From Car Crash On M40 On Way To Gig

They might sing about Superheroes but The Script were just that for one lucky lady after her car spiralled out of control and smashed into the central reservation of one of the UK's busiest motorways. The band bravely acted fast to pull the woman free from the wreckage of her car after witnessing the smash on their way to a gig. All in a days work hey fellas?

Danny O'Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power were on the M40 heading to the KEY 103 show in Manchester yesterday when they witnessed the accident at around 11.15am near the Beaconsfield stretch of the road. Talking to the radio station Danny explained that it was indeed "all in a days work," as he described why they decided to risk their own lives in order to help the woman escape her smoke-filled vehicle.

He said: "You're never going to move somebody from an accident but if there's smoke coming from the engine then you want to get them out as quick as possible. The girl said she couldn't feel her legs. She was so weak, so we helped her to the side of the road, sat her down, put a jacket around her, gave her some drink and waited for the ambulance."

The 25-year-old woman - who admitted she was a fan and asked for a photo before being taken away by ambulance - later thanked the band on Key 103 as she explained: "I was hit by the side and it kept spinning round and round. Then they got me out of the car. There was all sorts going on at the same time. I gave them a cuddle before I left but I never said thank you."

Eyewitness Hayley Cockman, 18, told Manchester Evening News how she couldn't believe her eyes when she realised it was the chart-topping band who had rushed to help the victim. She said: "I suddenly saw a group of guys run onto the motorway. At first I thought it must have been their car and they'd all got out.

"The crash had literally just happened and there was smoke pouring out of the car. Suddenly I looked to my left and there was a guy jumping out of the car that had pulled up on the hard shoulder. He just ran into the middle of the road and he was racing around the car and trying to get her out.

"Then I realised who the people were - they were the Script and they had just run out into the middle of the motorway to try and help the woman out of the completely smashed up car. I thought she was dead, her body was up against the wheel and the car was quite smashed up. Nobody else was out of their cars apart from them. There was still traffic moving going around her car.

"They didn't think about themselves at all, they were just thinking about her. It was very selfless. Luckily she was okay."

If you feel inspired by this heroic tale, just remember boys and girls, when you've been fighting for it all your life and you've been struggling to make things right, that's how a Superhero learns to fly...
