The Big Bang Theory Actress Carol Ann Susi Loses Battle To Cancer At 62

Popular actress Carol Ann Susi, who graced our screens in some of the biggest television shows of all time, has died at 62. The star, who most recently lent her voice to hit sit com The Big Bang Theory as Mrs. Wolowitz, lost her battle with cancer, her rep confirmed yesterday.

Appearing in shows including Cheers, Seinfeld, Six Feet Under, Just Shoot Me, Mad About You to name but a few, Susi had one of the best resumes in Hollywood. After moving to los Angeles from Brooklyn, Susi got her big break in 70s ABC series The Night Stalker and never looked back, going on to become a screen hero.

Her rep called her “a force of nature who didn't suffer fools and was fiercely loyal to her friends,” in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. Big Bang Theory producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Bill Prady shared a similar sentiment, explaining: “The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz,” they wrote in a joint statement with Warner Bros. Television and CBS.

“Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly.”

It's unclear how Susi's death will affect the upcoming series of The Big Bang Theory, but viewers recently Mrs. Wolowitz's health decline on the show.
