The winner of ‘American Idol’ season 10 shares that he’s still single despite the fact that he’s famous now and has a lot of female fans.Scotty McCreery might be climbing the ladder to super-stardom now that he’s won the tenth season of “American Idol”, but the fame doesn’t make it easier for him to find a girlfriend. The North Carolina-born singer, who has just got back to his senior high school in his hometown, recently shared to Us Weekly that he’s still single.
“Yeah, I’m single. I’ve been single for about three or four years running and nothing’s changed,” Scotty claimed. “I get the prom proposal in Minnesota when I’ll be in North Carolina or the marriage proposal or whatever. It’s definitely a change, but back home it hasn’t been too much different.”
Asked if there’s any girl in his school who tries to attract him, the singer who just dropped his debut album “Clear As Day” said, “I wouldn’t let that happen.” He explained, “I wouldn’t let someone who didn’t give me the time of day before come back in and me fall for it. People who were my good friends before are my good friends now.”
“There’s no hard feelings to people who weren’t but I’m not going to fall for that stuff,” the 17-year-old star added. “I’m the same dude. Nothing’s changed. My life has changed, but as far as me, as a person, nothing’s changed I get the ‘hey’ in the hallway or a wave or something I wouldn’t have gotten before, but nothing too drastic.”
Of his dream girl, Scotty gushed, “Just a normal girl. A girl doesn’t have to dress up for me 24/7 and always have her make-up on and always be wearing high heels. That’s not me.” He noted, “You can come to me in sweatpants and a t-shirt and I’d be alright with that.”
“As far as plans, I’m young and I’m busy so I don’t have much time for the dating life,” the “I Love You This Big” singer went on adding. “But hopefully it will all settle down eventually and I’ll be able to sit down and explore and get out there in the world. But right now I’m a busy dude.”
During the interview, Scotty was asked to clarify the swirling rumors saying that he’s been dating his “Idol” mate Lauren Alaina. Insisting that the gossips were untrue, the singer said, “Nope. Never true and probably never will be true. We are friends but nothing more than that.”
