Chris Colfer Lands Second Supporting Actor Nom at 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards

The ‘Glee’ actor’s co-star Jane Lynch is up for Supporting Actress title, while Kristin Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow each lands a Outstanding Guest Actress nom.Nominations for 2011 Primetime Emmy
Awards are out. Melissa McCarthy of “Mike & Molly”
and Joshua Jackson of “Fringe” woke up early on
Thursday morning, July 14 to read out who are in the run for this
year’s Emmys, and among those announced was “Glee” star
Chris Colfer.

The actor famous for his portrayal of
Kurt Hummel on the FOX hit series vies for Outstanding Supporting
Actor in a Comedy Series. He will be competing against four “Modern
Family” actors, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Eric
Stonestreet and Ty Burrell, and a “Two and a Half Men”
actor, Jon Cryer.

This is Chris’ second nomination for
the Outstanding Supporting Actor nod. The 21-year-old actor was
nominated for the same category back in 2010. He, however, lost to
Eric Stonestreet. On his latest nomination, he told EW, “There
were rumors that I might get nominated again, but I was thinking I
wouldn’t,” he told EW.

The openly-gay actor, who was recently
revealed to leave the series at the end of the third season, added,
“It was a surprise. I think there is so much anxiety that comes
with awards show and nominations and I was focusing on all the bad.
The category is so so tough, so selective, that I didn’t think I get
another nomination.”

Chris isn’t the only cast member
getting a nomination this year. His co-star Jane Lynch is up for
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, while Kristin
Chenoweth, Dot-Marie Jones and Gwyneth Paltrow each landed a
Outstanding Guest Actress in a

Comedy Series for their role as April
Rhodes, Coach Beiste and Holly Holliday respectively.

While Chris’ hit series also has a
chance to win multiple trophies including Outstanding Comedy, leading
the series pack was “Mad Men”. The Jon Hamm-starring
drama captured 19 nominations, including a nom for Outstanding Drama.
Following closely behind was “Modern Family” with 17 bids.

Topping the overall list, however, was
HBO’s miniseries “Mildred Pierce”. The Kate
Winslet-starring series grabbed a total of 21 nominations. Other
series with multiple noms included “Boardwalk Empire”
with 18 bids, “Saturday Night Live” with 16 bids and
“Game of Thrones” with 13 bids.

63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will take
place September 18 at L.A.’s Nokia Theater, and is set to air live
coast to coast on FOX. “Glee” star Jane Lynch has been
tapped to host the ceremony. The complete list of the awards nominees
