'American Idol' Recap: Haley Reinhart Rules the Night Despite Falling on Stage

Although taking a tumble while performing Led Zeppelin's song, the 20-year-old singer still impresses the judges and is declared as the winner of the first round by them.It's getting closer to the final round of "American Idol" for there are only 3 contestants left in the singing competition. During Wednesday night, May 18 show, the pressure is getting bigger as each contestant has to deliver their best performance to outdo their previous shows.

Being mentored by Grammy-winning songstress Beyonce Knowles for the preparation, the top 3 contestants finally have to perform their personal song choices in round one. Scotty McCreery was the first to begin the show with Lonestar's single, "Amazed". The 17-year-old singer poured emotion into the song and he added a tenor range at the end of the track.

Commenting on Scotty's performance, Steven Tyler said, "You really did take that song up a notch." Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez loved how he used his vibrato and Randy Jackson even dubbed it as the "perfect song choice."

Lauren Alaina then took her chance by singing Faith Hills' "Wild One" attractively. Although her performance was not so special, she still received compliment as Randy said, "You're ready for America to be all over you."

On the third performance, Haley Reinhart sang Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be", while his father played the guitar. During the performance, she suddenly fell which caused her to miss a few words, but she quickly stood up and finished her set without missing a beat. Randy said, "This girl is slaying it!" and Jennifer also praised her professionalism in getting up from the fall. The three judges even agreed that Haley is the winner for the first round.

The situation changed on the second round as Randy and Jennifer picked Scotty as the winner, though Steven insisted to choose Lauren. During the second turn, Scotty strummed his guitar to perform "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" while Lauren put a hopeful spin on "If I Die Young". She was more impressive in this round as Jennifer said, "You have the most beautiful tone of our finalists."

Haley took her turn to pay tribute to Stevie Nicks by singing "Rhiannon". Using the wind machine that made her hair and dress flow, she pretty much impressed the judges with her pretty appearance. "You did a really good job," Randy said. And Steven added, "You reminded me of why I fell in love with Stevie Nicks."

The third round was started as Scotty delivered "She Believes in Me". Steven loved the way he sang the big chorus while Jennifer, who sang along during the performance, praised him, saying, "Good job, baby." Lauren continued the evening by singing "I Hope You Dance" with a great feeling. Jennifer admitted that she "had a goosebumps from head to toe" when seeing her performance. Steven even claimed that "Lauren looked as if she owned the Grand Ole Opry."

The last stage performance went to Haley, who performed Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know". She sang the single right to the judges which made Steven to say, "Amazing". And Jennifer admitted that the choruses were the best. At the end of the third round, Steven chose her as the winner but Randy and Jennifer thought Lauren had won the round.
