In shocking news to the baseball world, 27-year-old MLB star Tyler Skaggs died on Monday (June 1).
Skaggs, who played for the Los Angeles Angels, was found unresponsive in a hotel room at the Hilton in Southlake, Texas.

While Skaggs’ death is being investigated (police say no foul play is suspected at this time), many have sent their condolences to his wife Carli.

Carli shared photos of her and Tyler’s wedding last year on Instagram.
Carli and Tyler tied the knot in October 2018 in Southern California, but their wedding came close to being canceled due to California wildfires.
“We were very lucky,” Carli told Wealth Management. “Five days before the wedding, we learned the guest ranch would not be available due to the fire. The fires were followed by the threat of rain, which meant mudslides were a possibility.”
On Valentines Day, Tyler shared a picture of his lovely wife Carli and captioned the photo: “Happy Valentine’s Day to the love of my life.”
Many of Carli’s followers and supporters have offered their condolences.

News reporter Alex Curry also tweeted about Skaggs death and how sad she felt for his wife Carli.

“He was such an amazing human, kind to everyone, and played with a passion that was infectious. My heart is with his wife Carli, his family and our @Angels family.”

Carli Skaggs talked about how the stressful it was being a baseball wife.
While Carli often posted on social media about her love for her husband Tyler, she also spoke on how hard being the counterpart of a professional athlete can be.
“Being a so-called baseball wife has a stress all its own,” she said in her interview with Wealth Management. “Since Tyler’s regularly on the move, we lack that traditional stability.”
Tyler and Carli were planning on starting a family.
Carli and Tyler were in the process of starting a family, according to Carli herself.
In her Wealth Management interview, which was published in April 2019, Mrs. Skaggs revealed that the couple had recently purchased a home in Santa Monica, California (Skaggs’ hometown) and had established a “rainy day fund” for their future family.
“Tyler wants his children to be able to see him pitch,” Carli told the website.
The happily married couple often shared pictures of them traveling and going out on romantic dates.
The Los Angeles Angels released a statement about Tyler’s passing.
Tyler Skaggs was the starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, who announced his passing Monday (Jul. 1) in a statement via Twitter.
“It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas,” the team said.
“Tyler has, and always be, an important part of the Angels family. Our thoughts and prayers with his wife Carli and his entire family during this devastating time.”

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred also released a statement about Tyler’s death.
“I am deeply saddened by today’s tragedy in Texas. All of us at Major League Baseball extend our deepest condolences to Tyler’s wife Carli, their family, their friends and all of his Angels’ teammates and colleagues,” he said.
“We will support the Angels’ organization through this most difficult period, and we will make a variety of resources available to Tyler’s teammates and other members of the baseball family.”
