A day after sending the dick pic seen around the world, the fiasco isn’t over for Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green. A video surfaced today of members of the USA basketball team DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, and fellow Warrior Klay Thompson talking about Green’s mistake.
Anyone who’s played sports knows that when you do something stupid, it’s your teammates’ moral obligation (in the words of Charles Barkley) to make sure you don’t hear the end of it. I mean, this is the kind of environment where players spend their shootaround mocking each other’s shots:
So when your mistake is something as embarrassing as, oh, I don’t know, sharing a private nude with the whole world, well, you’re going to hear about it for a while. The jokes aren’t mean spirited and don’t seem to be in an effort to alienate Green, but his teammates are definitely having some fun at his expense.
It’s unlikely that this incident will have a major impact on the team’s chemistry, particularly between Green and Cousins. Green had recently said he’s looking forward to playing with Cousins, seeing many opportunities for assists in his future by setting up the big man. I just don’t think Green was thinking about setting Cousins up for jokes at his own expense.
Regardless, if recent history is any indication, USA’s Coach K will be putting an end to this soon. Because as we all well know, Coach K doesn’t like fun.
