Will Smith: “My Suicide Squad Look Rocks My Wife’s World”

Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith loved the rugged look her husband cultivated for his new film Suicide Squad.

The actor stars as Deadshot, a highly skilled assassin, in the new comic book movie, which sees a team of incarcerated supervillains team up to undertake a series of dangerous missions in exchange for their freedom.

For the role, Will modelled his appearance on imprisoned music mogul Suge Knight, growing an unkempt beard and shaving his head, a look which apparently went down very well with his spouse.

“She thought it was pretty hot,” the star tells Entertainment Tonight. “I went with the Suge Knight look. I was using my model. I went with the rough, rugged and raw. She appreciated that.”

Jada grew up with the rapper Tupac Shakur, who was murdered in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996 after attending a boxing match with Suge.

Speaking to U.S. radio host Howard Stern last year (15) she revealed that in her youth she had kissed Tupac, but found they were romantically incompatible.

"There was a time when I was like, 'Just kiss me! Let’s just see how this goes,'" she said. "And when I tell you it had to be the most disgusting kiss for us both. The only way I can put it is, the higher power just did not want that."

Will, who married Jada in 1997, says it is not just his wife who's delighted at the prospect of seeing him play a tough guy in Suicide Squad.

“I’m seeing people on the street if you’re a 12-year-old boy right now it’s like the heavens are about to part when Suicide Squad comes out,” he adds.

Suicide Squad, which also stars Margot Robbie, Cara Delevigne, Jared Leto and Ben Affleck as Batman, will hit cinemas worldwide in August (16). (MWN/WNVET/DMC)
