He’s been nominated for multiple Academy Awards over the past 23 years, and Leonardo DiCaprio just won his first Oscar last night (February 28).
The “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” star took home the Best Actor trophy for his tremendous work in “The Revenant,” in which he played Hugh Glass.
Leo told the audience, “Thank you all so very much. Thank you to the Academy. Thanks to all of you in this room. I have to congratulate the other nominees,” before switching his focus to the environment- “Climate change is real. It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat affecting our entire species. We need to support leaders around the world… who speak for all of humanity. I thank you all for this amazing award tonight. Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take this award for granted.”
