We can’t let it go! Frozen 2 is officially happening!

We've only just got Let It Go out of our heads (oh no, not it's back again) but it's been confirmed by Walt Disney Animation Studios that Elsa and the gang will be back with some new catchy hits as they develop a sequel to their Oscar-winning film Frozen.

The news was revealed by the company at Disney's Annual Meeting of Shareholders in San Francisco on Thursday. John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios, made the announcement with Bob Iger and actor Josh Gad, who voices snowman Olaf in the hit movie.

It was confirmed that Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, the directors of the original Frozen, will continue in their roles for the next film after winning the Best Animated Feature Oscar and the Best Original Song Oscar (for Let it Go) in 2014. Idina Menzel, who voices Elsa in the children's flick, revealed last year that a Frozen sequel, stage musical and a six-minute short were "all in the works".

The animated short Frozen Fever, which reunites the toon's characters and song writers, will play ahead of Disney's live-action adaptation of Cinderella out in cinemas next week.

The company tweeted today: "Forecast Winter weather ahead! @DisneyAnimation developing #Frozen2." The message was accompanied by a picture of sisters Elsa and Anna, with Sven the reindeer and Kristoff. Lee also tweeted her excitement at the sequel, 'At last, I can say - FROZEN 2!!!! I'm beyond excited to create alongside my Frozen family!"

A release date and production details have not yet been confirmed. It seems like the most exciteable cast member of them is Kristen Bell though, who voices Anna in the hit flick. "I would play Anna forever if they would let me," Bell told CBS News. "Not only do I enjoy the character and how much people love her, but I enjoy the team -- the physical production team that I get to work with. They are all wonderful people... They're super talented and super kind."

It's hardly surprising that the makers of the film have decided to deliver a sequel as the first movie grossed almost $1.3 billion at the box office worldwide to date, a figure that made it the highest-earning animated movie of all time and the fifth highest-grossing film of all time. A release date and production details have not yet been confirmed, though the film will mark the first sequel that Disney (not Pixar) has released.
