Amanda Bynes Update: Actress ‘Doing Much Better,’ got DUI dismissed

We haven't heard much about Amanda Bynes lately—and apparently, that's a good thing. The troubled actress, who last made headlines in the fall of 2014 when she exhibited erratic behavior that included sleeping on a coach in a Los Angeles-area mall and joking about killing her parents, appears to have gotten her life back on track in the months since she's been in the spotlight.

“Amanda is doing well," her lawyer, David Esquibias told People.

On Tuesday, a Ventura County, California, judge ruled that Amanda should remain under her parents' conservatorship for the time being. He extended the conservatorship until at least June 23, which means Amanda's parents will continue to have control over their daughter's financial and medical decisions.

Amanda's parents, Rick and Lynn Bynes, have been their daughter's conservators since 2013. In November 2014, a rep for Amanda's parents confirmed to EntertainmentWise that the couple was planning to hand over the conservatorship to a medical professional, but it appears that they did not follow through with their plan. Amanda's parents remain in charge of their daughter's life and, according to a People magazine source, their relationship with Amanda is much better now than it was a few months ago.

“She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence,” the source said.

That's not the only thing that has improved in Amanda's life. Her lawyer confirmed to the magazine on Tuesday that Amanda's DUI case from September 2014 has been dropped. She had been facing probation violation charges.

Her life appears to be moving in the right direction, the source told People.

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago. She has her own apartment and is much happier.”

The Hairspray actress has been noticeably absent from Twitter over the last few months. Once her avenue for ranting about everything from her parents to other celebrities, Amanda has only posted one tweet in 2015, a simple selfie showing half of her face.
