Weatherman reacts hilariously to busted map showing obscene temperatures

Nothing tests a television host's abiltiy like a live broadcast or, to be more specific, a live broadcast that goes hideously wrong. But one man who made a backstage balls-up hilariously entertaining was a certain Cory McCloskey.

He's the weatherman for Fox 10, which serves the Phoenix metro area in Arizona, USA. During his forecast yesterday (January 28) the temperatures on his green-screen map were, for some reason or another, absurdly high - with 750 shown for the town of Gila Bend. But things got even more comical when a gaffe left the town of Cave Creek showing temperatures of 2960 degrees - which is about a third of the temperature of the actual sun. Cory dealt with it hilariously; and his dry wit left the audience - and his colleagues - in stitches. Watch below!

He quipped: "Wow 750 degrees in Gila Bend right now.. and 1270 in Ahwatukee. Now, I'm not authorised to evacuate Ahwatukee but this temperature seems pretty high. Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, they don't look good either. And frankly Wickenburg is a total loss. You might as well get out.

"Again, I'm not your dad, but I would get out while you still can. I think steel boils at about this temperature, so Cave Creek… there's probably nothing left up there right now so don't even bother looting up there. It's not gonna be worth it."

Live TV fail on local weather forecast

Despite the behind-the-scenes fail, Fox 10 have clearly seen the funny side and shared the clip to their own YouTube account. At time of writing it's already racked up more than a quarter of a million views in less than 24 hours. "Technology doesn't always cooperate, but luckily Cory knows how to handle the 'heat!'", they boasted.

Luckily what could have been an awkward on-air disaster turned out to be one of the funniest live TV moments of 2015 so far. He's certainly having a better week than his porn-tweeting peer from ESPN.
