Nikki Ferrell has split withJuan Pablo Galavis, the man who “chose” her during his season of The Bachelor last year, and for the first time since the break-up, Nikki is dishing on what really caused her and the former Bachelor to go their separate ways. Nikki attended the red carpet premiere of the new season of The Bachelor on Monday, and revealed why she and Juan Pablo couldn't make their relationship work.
“It's not from a lack of trying on either side,” she said. “I tried really hard and he tried, too.”
The couple even appeared on VH-1's Couples Therapy to try to work out their problems. It was on that show that viewers got to see just how troubled things were between the reality stars.
“I wasn't going to quit. I'm not a quitter,” Nikki said. “I tried everything, he tried, too. It wasn't just a one-side thing… We real-life tried, not TV-tried.”

However, when the filming of Couples Therapy ended, the pair realized their relationship wasn't worth saving. They split in October. Nikki claims that the main reasons for their breakup was the distance between them—he lives in Miami, while she resides in Kansas City—and Juan Pablo's reluctance to make Nikki a priority in his life.
"He lives in Miami and he's in the entertainment industry and that's his job and his lifestyle," Nikki said of Juan Pablo. "It was really hard for me to fit into that. At the end of the day we gave it a go but we're just two different people.”
There was also a third person that made it hard to have a relationship with Juan Pablo—his daughter, Camila.
"I knew I was never going to be the number one priority,” Nikki said. “He has a daughter... But there's a difference between being the second priority and the seventh priority."
During her candid interview, Nikki also opened up about what it was like to get a lot of hate from the show's fans after the season ended.
“No one prepares you for what's going to happen on the show and being in the spotlight,” she said. “I wanted everyone else to be happy for me. It was misunderstood for a lot of reasons because we weren't able to express ourselves, mostly him.”
The new season of The Bachelor, starring Chris Soules, is currently airing on Monday nights.
