Taylor Swift Was Overwhelmed By Support From Other Artists For Her Spotify Withdrawal

It's been an incredible year for Taylor Swift with her album 1989 becoming her most successful release to date. However she hit headlines for choosing to remove her entire back catalogue of music from Spotify around the time of it's release. The move sparked heavy debate in the industry and saw hundreds of her peers being asked if they felt they should follow suit.

Now Taylor, 25, has now spoken about the decision to delete herself from the music streaming service for the first time and revealed that she never expected to received the level of publicity she did over the move - or the overwhelming support she got from her colleagues in the music business.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter she admits that it was never really something that popped in to her head as being such a big deal and that she was thanked by many for making a stand in the name of traditional album sales.

She said: “I didn't think that it would be shocking to anyone. With as many ways as artists are personalizing their musical distribution, it didn't occur to me that this would be anything that anyone would talk about. I could never have expected so many text messages, emails and phone calls from other artists, writers and producers saying thank you."

So while it seems that not many have followed suit just yet, the support for Taylor's bold decision was clearly there behind the scenes. The debate over streaming music is likely to rage on for some time to come, but at least Taylor seems satisfied with her stance on the whole thing.
