Stephen Colbert Receives Musical Sendoff for “Colbert Report” Series Finale

He’s become one of the most beloved cable personalities of his day and Stephen Colbert ended his time on the “Colbert Report” with a memorable rendition of “We’ll Meet Again” last night (December 18).

The soon-to-be-host of “The Late Show” was joined by “Daily Show” stud Jon Stewart as he walked around the stage to greet dozens of celebrities who came to help him say goodbye.

Among the singing stars were James Franco, Elijah Wood, Patrick Stewart, Mandy Patinkin, Willie Nelson, Randy Newman, and Bryan Cranston.

REM singer Michael Stipe also showed up as did Barry Manilow, Cyndi Lauper, Big Bird and Cookie Monster. Stephen declared, “From eternity, I’m Stephen Colbert. Jon?”
