Sony Should Have Made Movie Within A Movie ‘MoonQuake Lake’ Instead Of ‘Annie’

We saw the Annie reboot over the weekend, it was hard-going. But there was one genuinely amazing moment in Sony's all-star remake. Nope not Cameron Diaz's rendition of Little Girls, Quvenzhané Wallis or the Hurricane Sandy joke. The movie within a movie, MoonQuake Lake was better than the actual movie.

Basically in the movie, Jamie Foxx's character Stacks (a New York Mayoral candidate) gets foster child Annie (Wallis) to move in with him to boost his popularity in the polls, after he saved her life. As part of her shiny new life, Annie and her orphan pals get invited to a big movie premiere, for MoonQuake Lake.

The film shows them actually watching bits of the film and by god did we wish were in there with them watching that instead of Annie. Sony put a lot of effort into their movie within a movie, casting real life love birds Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis as a half-fish girl from the moon and an all-American guy who fall in love. Then Rihanna pops up as an evil reptile villain.

Mila and Ashton star in MoonQuake Lake

You won't be able to experience the magic that is MoonQuake Lake until Annie hits UK cinemas on December 20, but Sony have 'leaked' (a brave move considering the recent news events) a trailer for their fake film. It's only 30 seconds but it's pretty funny, especially the YouTube tagline: "When you have no choice? How do you Choose?"

The trailer isn't the only thing though, Sia and Beck also penned and performed a tune (one of four new songs in the new Annie) especially for the fake film. The rousing number features lyrics like: "She's a fish and he's a boy" and "She came from the Moon ready to fight with scales and a tail and a fishy bite, Ready to destroy all of humankind, Fierce and fighting with a brook trout mind." You can listen to it below.

And MoonQuake Lake really is the gift that keeps on giving. As an extra treat take a look at the confused comments on YouTube under the newly released trailer. "What...The...F**k. Look, just cause you left Demi and knocked up her, doesnt mean you can make a movie together and be all good.." is just one fan who's head exploded.

Then there's Moonquakelake.com, which notes that the movie stars not Mila and Ashton but rather “Andrea Alvin” and “Simon Goodspeed".

Just like Annie and her friends in the film, we're hooked. So when can we expect the full movie Sony?
