Looking ahead to the springtime dance season, Seventeen Prom has selected Maia Mitchell to front the new issue.
The “Fosters” star explains her own vision of what she would wear to the big event- “I wanted to wear a salmon-pink halter dress with a low back. My hair would be in a loose, messy, curly updo so that you could see my shoulders. My friends and I decided that we would all go together, makeup-free, and wear these stunning dresses.”
Maia also shares her thoughts on asking a guy to prom- “I didn’t really like anyone in my high school, not like that anyway. I had a lot of guy friends but no one that I had feelings for. But I’m sure if I’d had, I would have just asked them. That’s how I am—I don’t like games, and I don’t beat around the bush. I think that if you like someone, it is important to just make it known.”
As for her take on social media, Miss Mitchell notes, “I get on social media sometimes. I think it’s good to find a balance and to be able to put your phone down. It was really important for me to do that while I was filming [Teen Beach Movie 2]. I was in a foreign place and having a really good time. It was good for me to be able to step back and enjoy the experiences that I was having in the moment without feeling the need to share it with the entire world on social media.”
Additionally, Maia also adds in some helpful hints on looking fabulous in photographs- “Pick a dress you feel really confident in and then you won’t be worried how you look in pictures. Then you just need to smile and remember to have fun. When you look back at the pictures, you want to remember exactly how great that night was.”
