One Direction have been forced to appear as a four-piece for the second time in a month after Louis Tomlinson fell ill meaning he is too poorly to join his bandmates Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes.
Louis took to Twitter to apologise to fans who were hoping to see him at the ceremony as he admitted to being "gutted" that he wouldn't be there to see 1D - who are the reigning International Duo/Group of the Year winners at the bash pick up there next set of awards.
A devastated Louis wrote on the social networking site: “Been sick all night. Still really unwell. Absolutely gutted!!. So sorry to let our fans down at NRJ. :( sorry :( hope the lads smash it !!” Fans then showed their support for the stricken star and within minutes #GetWellSoonLouis was trending worldwide.
Just last month Zayn was absent during the band's promotional trip of the US as they promoted their current fourth studio album Four. His illness led to speculation by Today Show host Matt Lauer that Zayn could be missing due to “substance abuse” much to the anger of the rest of the group. He was in fact suffering from a virus.
One Direction have already been busy appearing at the American Music Awards and the BBC Music Awards recently, already confirming there will be a fifth studio album from them next year. On Friday they appeared on the Graham Norton Show.
