Sharon Osbourne Opens Up About 16 Year Battle With Depression

TV Host Admits That Some Days She Feels Like Staying In Bed

Sharon Osbourne has admitted to feeling like she just wants to "rot in bed" some days after confessing details of her 16-year long battle with depression during a segment on her TV chat show.

Sharon, 62, made the shocking revelation - and added that she had been on medication for 16 years - during a discussion on The Talk where comedian Wayne Brady was addressing his own struggles with the mental health disorder. Her shocked co-host Aisha Tyler, responded: "You never talked about that," to which Sharon replied: "Nobody ever asked!"

She then continued to describe how suffering from the condition can make it extremely hard to get out of bed on days where she feels particularly low about things.

She said: "Some days are better than others, and some days you feel like you just want to pull the sheets over your head and just stay in that bed and not do a damn thing - except rot."

Sharon has had several health problems in recent years. She battled colon cancer in 2002 and after getting the all clear from that, underwent a double mastectomy in 2012 over fears she may develop breast cancer.

Sharon's husband Ozzy, 65, has recently described his horror at watching his wife suffer through intensive treatment as she fought off cancer.

He told a newspaper: "Sharon is the strongest woman I know. When I saw the scans of the colon, I thought, 'No way'. The cancer was so aggressive. She had three chemotherapies a month and after nine months the side-effects got worse and worse.

"She was having seizures - she was like The Exorcist, bouncing around the bed. I thought I was going to lose her. I thought it was all going to be too much for her. Then at the end of the nine months the doctor said, 'She's going to need nine months to get over the chemotherapy'. Her response was, I'm cancer free, great. I'm going shopping'."
