He’s Baaaack: Zayn Malik Joins One Direction On Stage After Missing Two Days Of Promo

One Direction fans are probably breathing a sigh of relief tonight. Zayn Malik has returned to the group after missing two days of promo for the band's new album. Zayn showed up for the group's night performance in Orlando at a private show.

Photos of his return have already hit social media as fans are excited to see the heartthrob back on stage after missing the Today Show performance due to illness.

In addition to the Today Show performance on Monday, Zayn also missed more album promotion on Tuesday when the group took questions from fans in the fan zone at Universal.

Zayn's absence from the group didn't come without controversy. Today Show host Matt Lauer received a plethora of criticism from fans when he interviewed the group live on stage.

"There's obviously a lot of concern, a lot of fans have been tweeting overnight. There's been a lot of action on social media about him. Is it something more serious than just a minor illness? There have been rumors of substance abuse. What's going on?" he said as fans started to boo.

Band member Liam Payne handled the question with professionalism however. He insisted that Zayn was sick with a stomach bug.

"No, he's just got a stomach bug. He's okay. He's just at home. He just needs to rest. He's okay," Liam said.

Zayn Malik wasn't going to let Matt Lauer get away with his question however. Zayn soon spoke to The Sun about how much the question upset him.

"I'm really angry and upset by what was said on the Today show,” Zayn said. "I was really ill at the weekend, that's why I couldn't fly to America. I was gutted to have to miss album release day, but I'm going to be back as soon as I can. As soon as I'm feeling better I'm going to join the guys and carry on with the promotion for the album."

Now that Zayn has re-joined his band mates, let's hope that means that he truly is feeling better.
