Heidi Klum is known for throwing some of the most extravagant parties in showbiz but she totally outdid herself last weekend when she arrived at her star-studded celebrity Halloween party in an extremely elaborate, larger-than-life butterfly costume. Easily trumping all the other fancy dress outfits this year and the supermodel has revealed all about how the magnificent creation came about, revealing it took an excruciating five hours to make.
Joining the likes of Joe Jonas, Ben McKenzie, Zoe Kravitz, Ice-T and Coco, Heidi, 41, arrived at her annual Halloween bash in New York on Friday and she made more than a grand entrance to celebrate her 15th year of hosting the party, donning a dramatic butterfly outfit complete with enormous multi-coloured wings which were almost double her size and a full bodysuit complete with antlers.
After revealing that it took five hours to get it on her body, the America’s Got Talent judge joked to E! News: "Then I just flew over here to the party.” As for her four children, Helene, Lou, Henry and Johan, Heidi says they thought the intricate costume was “wild and crazy,” adding: "They said, 'Are you really in there Mama?’ They weren't scared at all but the one time that I [looked] like me but older, they were scared,” referring to last year when she dressed up as an elderly lady. She joked: “I just can’t see and I can’t smell very well.”

There’s no denying it, Heidi looked amazing but why exactly did she choose to go as a butterfly this time round? "Well someone very special to my heart called me a schmetterling [German word for butterfly], so I wanted to be a butterfly this year. They’re just so pretty and colorful and I used to love painting butterflies,” she gushed. Heidi gave fans an insight into how the costume came together with an awesome time lapse video which she posted on Instagram, showing her bare-faced before having the thick layers of make-up applied.
After years of hosting the party with her ex-husband Seal, whom she officially divorced last month, Heidi attended the bash with her new boyfriend Vito Schnabel who transformed himself into Don Corleone from The Godfather films. Along with a photo of them cuddling on Instagram, the model wrote sweetly: "Have the best time with you V.” Over the years, Heidi has pulled out all the stops for her Halloween looks, dressing as various animals and even a robotic transformer in one year.
