Don’t Worry Cumberb***hes, Benedict Cumberbatch Reckons You’ll Love His New Fiancee

Cumberb***hes across the world may have been left distraught since Benedict Cumberbatch announced his engagement to Sophie Hunter, but the star still believes that his fans will learn to love his new fiancee.

"Since the woman I'm engaged to is as much a part of me as anything else in my life, if they like me, by extension they like her," he explained, proving that he doesn't quite understand how irrational girls can be when it comes to celebrity crushes.

Nevertheless, the 38-year-old seems perfectly content with his wife-to-be and has passed on some advice to his heartbroken admirers. Speaking on US talk show Live with Kelly and Michael!, he told his fans their "ovaries do still have use." Adding, "I'm very happy, I'm a very happy man. I have a great population of fans as well — they're smart, they'll get around to the idea."

Earlier this month, the Imitation Games star sent the internet into meltdown when he announced his engagement in the poshest way possible – with an announcement in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times newspaper.

It read, "Mr BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."

But many of his fans chose to 'ignore' the news, with one admirer tweeting “Can we all ignore the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch is engaged, ya, okay! He is still my husband!!!!” Whilst another posted,” I miss dating #BenedictCumberbatch now that he's engaged... I will have to change all my life in that Damn fanfiction. [sic]”

However, whilst he may have an army of Cumberb***hes mourning the loss of their fictional relationships with him, the star admitted that he quite enjoys the female attention he receives. ''I think most of it is good-natured and like anyone who's ever been in the public eye and kind of revered in a way that I've been by these fans,” he said. “The possession only takes on a sinister quality if the [fan] is really not very secure.''
