Jay Leno Tapped to Receive Mark Twain Prize for American Humor

His “Tonight Show” days are over and yet Jay Leno still has a venerable presence in the realm of comedy.

According to reports, the newly-retired star will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on October 19th.

In addition to the trophy, Leno will be celebrated by his fellow comedians during the ceremony, which will air on PBS on November 23rd.

Kennedy Center Chairman David Rubenstein told press, "Like Mark Twain, Jay Leno has offered us a lifetime's worth of humorous commentary on American daily life. For both men, no one was too high or too low to escape their wit, and we are all the better for it."
