GWAR Founder Dave Brockie Passes Away

He spent decades dressing up as Oderus Urungus and rocking out for thousands of fans, but Dave Brockie has sadly died at age 50.

The GWAR frontman/founder was found inside his Richmond, Virginia home on Sunday by his roommate around 7pm.

And while Brockie’s cause of death is still under investigation, the local police department has confirmed that there were no drugs found on the premises.

Bandmate Mike Bishop told press, “Dave was one of the funniest, smartest, most creative and energetic persons I’ve ever known. He was brash sometimes, always crass, irreverent, he was hilarious in every way. But he was also deeply intelligent and interested in life, history, politics and art.”

And fellow musician Randy Blythe added a message to his Instagram account- "My friend Dave Brockie, AKA Oderus Urungus, the singer of GWAR, has left the building & taken off back to his home planet. Dave TRULY WAS ONE OF A KIND — I can't think of ANYONE even remotely like him...My band learned how to become a real touring band from GWAR — they gave us our first shot at this thing."
