Crying and Praying, Oscar Pistorius Pleads Not Guilty in Shooting Death of His Model Girlfriend

Pleading not guilty, Oscar Pistorius was in court Monday (August 19) in Pretoria, South Africa. He was formally charged for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, last February. As the Olympian cried, the judge asked him if he was well. He answered, "under the circumstances, your honor."

The trial is scheduled to begin in March. Court documents reveal that more than100 witnesses will be called, including one of Pistorius's ex-girlfriends.

In court, the double amputee appeared to be praying with his brother and sister before the proceedings started, wiping his eyes with a tissue. The 26-year-old faces a quarter century in prison if convicted.

The sprint runner has claimed that he mistook Miss Steenkamp for an intruder, leading to her fatal shooting. Prosecutors contend that the athlete deliberately shot the South African model following an argument.
