He’s fiercely dedicated to his craft, and Ryan Gosling ended up missing the premiere of his new flick “Only God Forgives” at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in favor of a new project.

The “Lars and the Real Girl” guy apologized for his absence in a letter to Cannes director Thierry Fremaux, who was understandably disappointed at the news.

Gosling is currently in Detroit, Michigan filming his directorial debut “How to Catch a Monster” with Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Only God Forgives” still premiered in the South of France today, and it’s getting great feedback.
