MTV EMAs 2011: Lady GaGa Grabs Four Gongs, Katy Perry Wins One

GaGa becomes the biggest winner at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards as she takes home Best Song in addition to three others, while her strongest contender lands only Best Live award.
Lady GaGa turned out to be the ultimate winner at 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards. The Mother Monster successfully grabbed no less than four kudos when the winners was announced during a live ceremony taking place at Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Sunday, November 6.

Taking home the coveted Best Female award in, the "Born This Way" hitmaker also won Biggest Fan, Best Song and Best Video. In her acceptance speech for Best Song, she said, "I knew that this song was very special when I first wrote it. This is the single most important song that I've ever written, the single most important album, and until now the single most important moment."

Meanwhile, GaGa's strongest contender, Katy Perry, has to settle with winning only Best Live gong. Upon receiving the kudo, the singer who is currently touring in the U.K. said, "It's really easy to download, buy and steal a song, but it takes commitment to go to a live show. I'm so tired but it's worth it."

Beside GaGa, another multiple winner included Justin Bieber who took home two trophies. The pop singer, who performed a medley of "Under The Mistletoe" and "Never Say Never" during the show, scored Best Male and Best Pop. Accepting the Best Male prize, he joked that he actually voted for fellow nominee Kanye West before thanking his devotees, family and MTV.

30 Seconds to Mars and Bruno Mars also grabbed two kudos each, while other winners included Linkin Park, Eminem and Britney Spears. The latter took home the Best North American Act award.

This year's MTV Europe Music Awards was hosted by Selena Gomez. Opened with a performance of "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" by Coldplay, it also saw the performance of Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Guetta, Taio Cruz, Ludacris and Jessie J. Adam Lambert and Queen, who was honored with Global Icon award, closed the show with their collaboration.
