The singer who appears as Sunshine Corazon on the FOX hit series received condolences from Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz after news of her father being stabbed to death made headlines.After news of her father’s tragic death caught headlines, Charice received supports and condolences from her fellow “Glee” stars. On Tuesday, November 1, Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz took to their Twitter to send their deepest regret for what happened to the Sunshine Corazon depicter’s father.
“My thoughts and prayers go out today to my girl @OfficialCharice and her family for their terrible loss.. Thinking of you Charice..,” tweeted Lea. Meanwhile, Jenna wrote, “Saddened to hear about @officialCharice ‘s loss. Sending all my love to you and your family.”
It was reported earlier that Charice’s father, Ricky Pempengco, was murdered in the Philippines late Monday, October 31. According to local police, the 40-year-old construction worker was at a grocery store in San Pedro when suddenly a drunken stranger stabbed him with an ice pick.
In a radio interview on Wednesday, Charice called for justice for her slain father. She said, “Whoever did this must be brought to justice. Justice must be served, not just for my father but for everyone concerned.”
Charice has been estranged from Ricky for years. Though so, the 19-year-old singing sensation tweeted that she had a really strong bond with her late father before her parents separated when she was still a young child. “I loved him and I will still love him,” she added in the same tweet. “He’s still my Dad after all.”
Due to the unexpected tragedy, Charice was forced to cancel her performance in Singapore with David Foster. She apologized to her fans, writing, “I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”
