Prince Harry Arrives in U.S for Military Training

No flying under the radar for Prince Harry.

According to People.com, the prince, 27, has arrived in the U.S for a two-month army helicopter-training course.

Harry, referred to as Captain Harry Wales, landed at the naval airfield in El Centro, Calif., on Thursday where he will participate in real, live-fire exercises to train as an Apache helicopter pilot for about a month.

After his practice in El Centro, Harry will head to Gila Bend Auxiliary Air Force Base in southern Arizona where he will start the Exercise Crimson Eagle course, which is a part of the two-month training mission. He, along with 19 other British Army students, will fire missles, rockets, and cannons from the military aircraft, which is the primary attack helicopter of multiple nations. The base hosts troops for training because its climate is similar to the conditions in Afghanistan. Plus, the clear skies make it the ideal environment for constant flying.

During his West Coast stay, residents in nearby cities will undoubtedly enjoy having royalty in their neighborhood. Forbes.com spoke to Jesus Gonzalez, 33, who said it “would be awesome” if he catches a glimpse of the prince in his hometown.”We don’t have places for him to go to cruise around,” Gonzalez told Forbes. “He’s going to get bored. I would recommend the mall.”

According to a palace source, after Harry completes the Apache training, he will then be assigned to an Apache squadron and the issue of deployment will rest with the Ministry of Defense.
