Offering a listen to the new single, the former ‘Sonny with a Chance’ star explains that the tune is inspired by the struggles that she has dealt with the past year.Demi Lovato has finally released her anticipated single “Skyscraper”. Sharing her personal journey in overcoming challenges, the former “Sonny with a Chance” star sings in the piano-driven song, “Go on and try to tear me down. I will be rising from the ground like a skyscraper.”
Discussing about the Toby Gad-produced tune in Seventeen magazine, Demi explained why it has a very special meaning for her. “This song is so special to me because it’s inspired by my journey and the struggles that I’ve dealt with this past year,” so wrote the ex-girlfriend of Joe Jonas.
Through this new single, the 18-year-old songstress hopes to inspire fans to stay strong. “I hope people are able to relate to it and realize that they are able to rise above and overcome any obstacle, no matter the circumstances, and shine like a skyscraper,” she noted.
Demi continued on, “I am still on a personal journey dealing with my own issues each and every day, but the best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help.” She concluded in the end, “My biggest wish for this song is that it’s able to inspire others and urge them to keep moving forward no matter what the odds.”
Back in early July, “Skyscraper” co-writer Karli revealed that Demi got really emotional during recording. “No one has been able to hear it cause they’re keeping it behind locked doors but the couple people who have heard it say she [Demi] absolutely killed it and [you] could hear her cry while she was recording it,” she claimed.
A music video for the single is set to debut on Wednesday, July 13 on E! News. Demi herself has offered a sneak peek to the Mark Pellington-directed video by releasing an official teaser that gives a look at her looking somber in the middle of a dessert during a chilly and windy day.
