The middle member of the Jonas Brothers stirs up speculations that 'I'm Sorry' might be an ode to his ex-girlfriend after admitting that the new song is based on one of his relationships.Joe Jonas might be apologizing to ex-girlfriend Demi Lovato through new single "I'm Sorry." The middle member of the Jonas Brothers stirred up the speculations after he recently admitted that the song is based on one of his relationships.

" 'I'm Sorry' is really honest," the 21-year-old pop star revealed to E! Online. "It's saying, I screwed up. I didn't cheat on the person, but just I messed up and I wanted the person back. I'm just putting it all on the table saying, 'I'm sorry. I wish I could have you back'."

The Arizona-born star confessed he realizes his fans will try to find out who he's singing considering his past romances with Demi, Taylor Swift, Ashley Greene and Camilla Belle. "Those kind of songs are really hard because you know that person is going to hear it," he said.

"[But] I've never really reached out to somebody about a song," the older brother of Nick Jonas explained further. "I feel every artist is entitled to write honestly. So I've never reached out to them unless they reached out to me."

Joe first met Demi on the set of "Camp Rock" in 2007, but they didn't start dating until last year. The relationship, however, only lasted for a few months. They split in May 2010. "Demi and I knew that going into our romantic relationship it may not be an easy one. I realize that over the time we have spent together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now," Joe told PEOPLE shortly afterward.

Confessing he was the one who ended the romance, Joe explained, "It was my choice to break up, but I love her as a friend. She's been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be friend and be there for her." Months after the break-up, Demi checked into rehab to deal with "emotional and physical issues" following an altercation with a tour dancer.
