Lindsay Lohan Begins Her House Arrest, Gets Ankle Monitor

The troubled actress has to complete her probation violation at her home for 35 days after pleading guilty from stealing a necklace from a Venice jewelery store.Lindsay Lohan has begun her house arrest sentence for her jewelry theft conviction. On Thursday, May 26 at about 5 A.M., the troubled starlet turned herself in at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Century Regional Detention Facility. Within an hour, she was fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and ordered to remain at her Venice Beach townhouse.
Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for Los Angeles County Sheriff's, said, "Ms. Lohan will be under the supervision of the sheriff's department and her release date is expected to be around June 29. She will serve about 35 days on home detention." It is mentioned that the ankle bracelet allows the sheriff's department to monitor whether or not she leaves her house.
Weeks before, 24-year-old Lindsaywas sentenced to four months jail after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 gold necklace from a store in January. She was eligible for house arrest because of jail overcrowding and the nonviolent nature of her conviction. The "Mean Girls" actress was also ordered to do 480 hours community service, and has already started her service at a women's jail.
Also on Thursday, the Gagosian Gallery shares Richard Phillips' 90-second motion portrait of Lindsay. The short film is titled "Lindsay Lohan" and displays the "Gotti: Three Generations" actress frolicking in the water, wearing only white bikini. A spokeswoman said that it was shot in Malibu just a few weeks ago, but there is no plan to exhibit it in the United States.
