In addition to clarifying his nasty comment about Los Angeles, the 'I Am Number Four' actor also says that he joked about what the tattoo above his crotch read.Alex Pettyfer has recently defended himself against the branding of him as Hollywood bad boy. After mocking Los Angeles by calling it "s***hole" in an April interview with VMAN magazine, the Kyle Kingston of "Beastly" tried to clarify the nasty remark and claimed he's just being "misunderstood".

The 21-year-old actor, who also said that Los Angeles is "socially disgusting", backtracked his offensive comments during a recent interview with E! Online. When asked how New York City compares to the City of Angels, he enthused, "I love New York", but quickly replied, "I love L.A. too. I love both place."

The ex-boyfriend of Dianna Agron insisted that the magazine interview has led public to misunderstand him. "I don't think I was so much misquoted but misunderstood," he said. Coming to the actor's defense was his publicist, who chimed in to simply say, "The most misunderstood boy in America."

The English heartthrob also grabbed the chance to make clear about his infamous "Thank You" tattoo above his crotch. "You know everyone thinks it says 'Thank you'," he said when met in New York City. He then straightened out, "It says my name, 'Alex.' It's boring. He [the magazine's writer] said that, not me."

Beside insisting he is being misinterpreted, Alex also talked about his latest movie that is based on the life of Channing Tatum. The "I Am Number Four" star admitted that he is "a little nervous" taking the role which will see him portraying a stripper.
