Adam Lambert Calls Gay Activist Arrest in Moscow 'Major Damper on Things'

The runner-up of 'American Idol' season 8 is shocked upon learning that an American gay activist was arrested on the same day he held a concert in Russia.During his first trip to Russia to perform at 2011 Maxidrom Festival, Adam Lambert was not impressed with the news that an American gay activist, named Dan Choi, was arrested while marching at the Moscow Gay Pride. An openly gay practitioner, the boyfriend of Sauli Koskinen was upset with the arrest.

He was even more shocked when learning that the arrest happened on the same day her performed in the country. Taking to his Twitter, the "American Idol" alum wrote, "So shocked that this happened today at the same hour and same city as I was performing in. #majordamperonthings."

Despite the incident, the 29-year-old pop star was seemingly having a good time by embracing Russian culture and enjoying local spirits. During his gig on Saturday, he poured some vodka before delivering his single "If I Had You". The Indianapolis-born singer took a small cup of the beverage and shouted "Nazdorovye", which means "to your health" to the crowd. He then enthused, "Oh, I love Russia!"

Just in time before he went back home to the States on Sunday, May 29, Adam also tweeted that he was enjoying the Russian liquor at the airport while waiting for his plane. "Airport bar in Moscow. Sipping Russian vodka and Bad Romance is playing. #nostrovia," he wrote. Minutes later, he shared a picture of his vodka drink along with a tag that read, "Heavy pour. #nostrovia." The word "Nostrovia" in Russia can be translated to "Cheers!" in English.
