Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger may be love's young dream, but there could be trouble brewing in paradise as it seems that their parents are secretly at war in a bid to try to protect their little darlings.
Patrick's mum, Maria Shriver, definitely seems to have a problem with the Wrecking Ball hitmaker, whom she believes is a bad influence on her son. Just last week, the former First Lady of California even turned down an invitation to Art Basel after she found out that her pride and joy's new beau would be tagging along too. Awks!
But whilst no one could dispute that Miley, 22, enjoys a party and isn't exactly the most conservative of girls, her parents, Billy Ray and Tish aren't exactly pleased that she's being slated by someone who is old enough to know better. “They can't stand seeing Miley hurt so it's hard to watch her get shut out by Patrick's family,” a source told HollywoodLife.
“They think it's pretty small minded of Maria to be so judgmental. They feel like she should know better. It's like people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Tish would love to bump into her and give her a talking to, but she knows that would only make things worse. They are taking the high road on this and telling Miley to hold her head up high and be patient. If his family doesn't want to know her, then it's their loss.”

Ironically, whilst Miles may be getting a hefty portion of the blame for corrupting Patrick, 21, it appears that he's the one who's been initiating the wild partying and all-nighters, with friends of the star admitting that he's not quite as innocent as is made out. The pair went pretty crazy at Art Basel last week, focusing on the nightlife as opposed to the artwork. But whilst the twerking star grabbed headlines with her revealing outfits and alleged smooch with Paris Hilton, it was P-Schwartz who was said to be encouraging the scandalous behaviour.
Celebrities who partied with the new couple during their time in Miami told TMZ that Patrick was the one organising trips to nightclubs and strip clubs with his girlfriend and others, getting by on virtually no sleep whilst Miley lagged behind.
But irregardless of who's leading who on, or whether they have each met their match, Billy Ray and Tish are convinced that their little 'angel' can win over her boyfriend's parents one day. “They still think Patrick's family will come around,” the insider added. “They think it will just take time and once they give Miley a chance, they'll love her the way everyone that really knows her does.”
Hopefully this is the case as it's not just their mutual love of partying that's keeping the pair together. A source recently told E! News, “This is more than just a fling. They look like they are falling in love with one another.” And after two years of dating Liam Hemsworth, Miley went and got a ring on her finger, proving that when she falls in love, she falls hard. Despite breaking things off with the actor whilst they were engaged, Miley hasn't written off the idea of love. Now whilst Patrick and Miley may only have been dating a few months, if they carry on the way they're going it might not just be her boyfriend's parents that Miles is trying to impress, but her inlaws.
