Willow and Jaden Smith Give Interview To The New York Times T Magazine

Willow and Jaden Smith have given an interview with T Magazine in which they discuss their individual careers, rise to fame, getting an education at school and the concept of time - or lack of - and while it might all seem relatively routine, it is anything but, as the siblings offer confusingly intricate answers.

The children of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, who are known for their often wacky fashion sense, sat down for their first ever interview together with The New York Times' publication this month and it got pretty strange from the start with Willow, 14, replying when asked what book she has been reading: "Quantum physics. Osho,” while her older brother Jaden replied: "The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life” and ancient texts; things that can't be pre-dated.” Snap, we totally have too!

Their intellect reaches new levels when discussing their “experience of time,” with Whip My Hair singer Willow stating: "I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that's how I know it doesn't exist.” Really?! Jaden chimes in with his view: "It's proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It's relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it's also such a thing that you can get lost in.”

Right… They also have really deep thoughts on breathing too. Yes, breathing. Willow says: "Breathing is meditation; life is a meditation. You have to breathe in order to live, so breathing is how you get in touch with the sacred space of your heart.” Jaden then explains: "When babies are born, their soft spots bump: It has, like, a heartbeat in it. That's because energy is coming through their body, up and down.”

According to Willow, that's called “prana energy,” which Jaden reveals is “because they still breathe through their stomach. They remember. Babies remember.” Pretty sure we don't remember being in the womb, guys! His sister adds: "When they're in the stomach, they're so aware, putting all their bones together, putting all their ligaments together. But they're shocked by this harsh world."

Willow and Jaden are rarely out of the recording studio but they are both preparing to release new music in the coming months but fans shouldn't expect more of the same from Willow, who has “evolved” according to her proud big bro. The singer explained: "I mean, “Whip My Hair” was a great thing. When I look back I think, 'Wow, I did so much for young black girls and girls around the world. Telling them that they can be themselves and to not be afraid to be themselves.' And I'm doing that now but in a whole different way, coming from source energy and universal truths.”

While their chatter may seem foreign to most, one person who will totally ‘;get' what Willow and Jaden are saying is their mother, Gotham actress Jada, who recently defended criticism the youngsters receive for being “different,” telling Sway In The Morning: "I did not teach my kids to be liked, I taught them to always live by their truth and to respect others and to always reach to be respected. Different people will respect different things but at the end of the day, my kids have the confidence to be who they are and that is all as a parent that Will and I can ask of them because that is where their power and their strength will come from.”

They're clearly living by your words, Jada! Read more of Willow and Jaden's interview here.
