Colin Morgan Is Joining The Fall: What Does This Mean For Spector?

We're two episodes into the second series of BBC's amazing crime series The Fall (you lot in Ireland are ahead), and while the latest episode may have dropped some major WTF moments, new recruit Colin Morgan has promised the remainder of the season doesn't let up on the twists.

The Merlin star joins the new series in episode four, with the BBC releasing some teasing on set photos of Colin with leads Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan last week. He joins just as Stella Gibson's (Anderson) investigation into the Belfast strangler, Paul Spector (Dornan), reaches a feverish climax. SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP.

In episode two of series two we saw Spector not only offering a counseling session to one of his victims, Annie Brawley, but Gibson finally had her man within grasp as DNA evidence found on the shears he used to butcher Annie's brother, revealed Spector's identity. Oh and Spector's got Rose Stagg locked in the boot of his car.

So where does Colin's character fit into all of this? The actor has given an interview to BBC Northern Ireland ahead of his debut, and although he doesn't reveal too much, he does hint at some pretty explosive goings-on in the final four episodes of this season.

Is Tom Anderson the one to arrest Spector? (BBC)

"I play DS Tom Anderson," Colin explains. "He comes into the second series of The Fall from episode four onwards. He becomes involved in the investigation in an unexpected, roundabout way. He's very much aware of what's going with the investigation in Northern Ireland, it's on TV, it's in the newspapers, it's everywhere. So I think for a young guy like him in the police service, it's a very desirable case for him to be on."

An "unexpected" way? Colin elaborates a bit on this later on in the interview, saying: "Having read the scripts from start to finish, one to six, I can tell you that it doesn't slow pace, it picks up, it gets more intense, the net feels like it's closing in. It feels like the investigation has upped its pace and it feels like everything is much more complicated, much more diverse and that Stella has taken steps that I think are highly intellectual and highly complex. We learn a lot more about everyone and everything and the conclusion, I think, is going to keep people pretty engaged."

What else can they possible throw at us? Is Colin the one who captures Spector? AND what does this tweet from a Fall fan account mean?

It can't be a coincidence that they're wearing the same jumper can it? Belfast has more than one store.

The Fall is back on BBC2 on Thursday at 9pm. Watch Colin's full interview with BBC Northern Ireland below:
