American Music Awards 2014: Check Out Our Predictions!

It's almost that time of the year yet again - the 2014 American Music Awards take place this evening at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and it's shaping up to be one EPIC show, with the likes of One Direction and Garth Brooks taking to the stage. And with Iggy Azalea leading this year's nominations with an impressive six nods - will she end up finishing her amazing year on a high? We don't have to wait too long to find out!

This year's awards can be seen at 8pm on ABC tonight and judging by previous performances (remember Miley Cyrus surrounded by cats last year?), no doubt we're in for quite a treat. Tonight will see - wait for it - Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Charli XCX, Fergie, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Jessie J, Lorde and MAGIC! perform. All that AND J.Lo will also be performing the racy track Booty with Azalea - which has already been hitting headlines because of just how sexual they're going to make it.

But, despite anyone who's anyone taking to the stage at tonight's bash, it's not all about those performances. So, who is going to be walking away with those all important awards? Check out our predictions below.

The 2014 AMAs take place TONIGHT!

New Artist of the Year

5 Seconds of Summer

Iggy Azalea

Bastille

Sam Smith

Meghan Trainor

This is one difficult category and although we think this one should really go to either Iggy Azalea or Sam Smith, we think the army of dedicated 5SOS fans will spend all day, every day voting for their fave band, and will just about pip the other four to the post. And this year has been a huge one for the Aussie four piece, so it would be well deserved!

Single of the Year

Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX, "Fancy"

John Legend, "All of Me"

MAGIC!, "Rude"

Katy Perry featuring Juicy J, "Dark Horse"

Pharrell Williams, "Happy"

'Fancy' may have been released in the summer, but we're still struggling to go a week without it getting stuck in our heads, aren't you? It also broke records in the US, as it was named the longest leading number one by a female rapper on the Hot 100, so we think that this will be just one of the six awards that Iggy could potentially win this evening!

5SOS will be performing this evening and we think they'll walk away with the New Artist Of The Year award - don't you? (WENN)

Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock)

John Legend

Sam Smith

Pharrell Williams

It's been a HUGE year for Sam Smith and although he's up against stiff competition from the almighty Pharrell and John Legend, we think he'll walk away with the Favorite Male Artist gong tonight. And he'll no doubt take countless selfies to show just how proud he is - and rightly so!

Favorite Female Artist (Pop/Rock)

Iggy Azalea

Lorde

Katy Perry

At just 18-years-old, Lorde managed to curate the entire Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1 soundtrack this year and after being honoured with a whopping SIX awards at the New Zealand Music Awards last week, we think her success is just going to continue tonight. Although the gong may go to Iggy (because where has Katy Perry BEEN recently?), we're definitely rooting for Lorde.

Favorite Brand, Duo, or Group (Pop/Rock)

Imagine Dragons

One Direction

OneRepublic

With 1D's latest album FOUR breaking records this week, with it also being expected to hit the top spot in a whopping 146 countries, these boys are definitely BACK, and what better way to mark their success by giving them an award (or 7 - we wish) at the AMAs, eh? WE HOPE THEY WIN, no matter how much we love OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons.

Will 1D bag the Favorite Band award? (WENN)

Favorite Album (Pop/Rock)

Lorde, Pure Heroine

One Direction, Midnight Memories

Katy Perry, Prism

Katy Perry has spent approximately 764663 days (we know that's a slight exaggeration, but hey) touring the globe with her Prismatic World Tour, and it's flipping amazing. So, despite her not releasing any new material for a while now, she definitely deserves this award!

Favorite Male Artist (Country)

Jason Aldean

Luke Bryan

Blake Shelton

It's been an absolutely amazing year for Luke Bryan and with him constantly breaking records - it'd be a crime if he didn't walk away with this award.

Favorite Female Artist (Country)

Miranda Lambert

Kacey Musgraves

Carrie Underwood

After winning big at the CMA Awards earlier this month, Miranda is surely going to just add to her success by bagging the Female Country Artist gong at tonight's show? WE HOPE SO, ANYWAY.

We reckon Lorde will bag the Female Artist award - thoughts? (WENN)

Favorite Album (Country)

Garth Brooks, Blame It on My Roots

Eric Church, The Outsiders

Brantley Gilbert, Just as I Am

Garth recently topped the charts with his big comeback album Man Against The Machine and with Blame It On The Roots also managing to shift an impressive 164k copies in its debut week, he's surely going to bag the award for the Favorite Country album, right?

Favorite Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop)

Iggy Azalea

Drake

Eminem

Interesting that Iggy and Eminem are now up against one another in this category, given the rapper's recent jibe against Azalea. However, despite Eminem being the King of rap for years now, we think after Iggy's huge year, she's going to pip him to the post for this gong.

Favorite Male Artist (Soul/R&B)

Chris Brown

John Legend

Pharrell Williams

It's been a big year for Legend, with him making a comeback with new album Love In The Future. And with him being up for five awards tonight, no doubt he'll bag at LEAST one. And well deserved, too.

Iggy Azalea is up for an impressive six awards (WENN)

Favorite Female Artist (Soul/R&B)

Jhene Aiko

Beyonce

Mary J. Blige

This has GOT to go to Queen Bey. It just has to.

Favorite Album (Soul/R&B)

Beyonce, Beyonce

John Legend, Love in the Future

Pharrell Williams, G I R L

Another very strong category, but we think Beyonce will bag this award too. We just have nothing negative to say about her booty shakin' ways.

Favorite Artist (Alternative Rock)

Bastille

Imagine Dragons

Lorde

We reckon this will be Lorde's second win of the night - despite her huge success recently, we think that this is still just the beginning for the teen.
