19 Kids And Counting Star Jessa Duggar Bucks Tradition At Her Wedding To Ben Seewald

The Bride And Groom Didn't Even Kiss At The Altar

Jessa Duggar surprised everyone at her wedding when she walked down the aisle on November 1 wearing a blush-colored lace gown, instead of the white dress her friends and family were expecting. Sporting the colored wedding gown was just the first of many things that Jessa, who stars with her family on the reality show 19 Kids And Counting, did at her wedding to Ben Seewald that bucked tradition.

Like her sister Jill, who married Derick Dillard in June, Jessa got married at the family’s church in Bentonville, Arkansas, and said “I do” in front of more than 1,000 people. Unlike Jill, however, Jessa opted not to have her first kiss with her husband (and first kiss ever) in public. The reality stars retreated to a private room in the middle of their ceremony to engage in their first lip lock in private.

The ceremony did have one kiss in it though, according to an exclusive report by Starcasm. The site reports that while Jessa and Ben were sharing their first kiss in another room, the minister did a “long, fire-and-brimstone sermon about kissing” and purity, before having the wedding guests watch as Jessa’s parents, Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar, kissed for the crowd.

Several of Jessa’s sisters, including Jill, Jana and Jinger, who served as maid of honor, stood with Jessa as she said “I do.” Ben’s groomsmen were made up of his friends, family and several of Jessa’s brothers.

The source told Starcasm that security guards had warned wedding guests not to take photos of the ceremony, and guests obliged. The source noted that all of the women that attended the ceremony wore dresses out of respect to the Duggars, who believe women should not wear pants.

“Jessa and Ben’s wedding was sweet, friendly and private celebration of love, filled with strong reminders about the importance of purity,” the source told Starcasm. “With so much talk of their purity, I actually felt I knew much more about the couple than I should.”

According to People, the couple’s wedding was filmed by TLC and will be shown on the next season of 19 Kids and Counting.
