Ariana Grande Sued Over “The Way”

Her star has been rising quickly in 2013, but Ariana Grande just hit a bit of a snag as she's just been smacked with a lawsuit for copyright infringement.

According to Plaintiff Minder Music, the "Sam & Cat" star's song "The Way" is a ripoff of the 1972 song, "Troglodyte," by The Jimmy Castor Bunch.

In its complaint, Minder says the "Troglodyte" lyrics "What we're gonna do right here is go back, way back, back into time" are substantially similar to Ms. Grande's "What we gotta do right here is go back, back in time."

However, according to the 20-year-old singer's rep, "the alleged offending materials were not provided by Ariana, and we trust that the co-writers and producers will resolve the claim with Minder."
