Just one month away from receiving her Lifetime Achievement award at the Grammy's, Patti Page has died at the age of 85 (January 2).

Back in the '50s, the crooner had four #1 hits including "Tennessee Waltz" and "(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window."

In 1958, Patti was born Clara Ann Fowler to a poor family in Oklahoma in 1928. She was discovered while singing on a local radio station and was subsequently signed to Mercury Records.

"Tennessee Waltz" topped the charts in 1950-1951 and was the last song to sell a million copies of sheet music. Her "Patti Page Show" ran for a year and she was nominated for an Emmy.

However, it was only in 1998 that she won a Grammy for Live at Carnegie Hall. In 2000, her last album "Brand New Tennessee Watz" featured duets with country stars including Emmylou Harris and Trisha Yearwood.
