Celebrities Defend Beyonce’s Lip-Synched Star Spangled Banner

She had the esteemed honor of singing at President Obama’s inauguration on Monday (January 21), and Beyoncé Knowles has been getting all kinds of grief for deciding to lip synch the Star Spangled Banner.

However, a few of the “Crazy in Love” songstress’ celebrity peers have come to her defense, noting that the conditions and venue would’ve made it difficult to pull off.

LeAnn Rimes declared, “I’m actually taking up for her on this one. There are times when people will ask you to do it, and they will not let you do it unless you do it because they want control over what happens.”

Jennifer Lopez added, "In certain venues and stuff, they do prerecord things, because you're going to have that terrible slapback. All performers do have to do it at some point.”

Meanwhile, Aretha Franklin chimed in, “I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather. When I heard that I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record… Next time I’ll probably do the same.”

And Steven Tyler didn’t seem too concerned over the scandal- “Beyonce’s so hot she can do anything. Let’s just get real.”
