The actor, who plays Damon Salvatore in ‘The Vampire Diaries’, is annoyed by the shopping madness a day after Thanksgiving, reasoning, ‘thousands of families missing out on family time.’Ian Somerhalder couldn’t see the point of people flooding shopping centers to buy discounted items. Stating that they forget the true meaning of Thanksgiving, he expressed his frustration by writing on Twitter, “Good night world happy thanks giving. Im NOT grateful for is the midnight black Friday c**p-thousands of families missing out on family time.”

The actor, who is currently dating his co-star Nina Dobrev, vented his anger in another tweet. He slammed stores for taking advantage of the holiday spirit by posting, “Stores should be ashamed”. The American hunk added, “Family Is all we have, the foundation of our country and our world. Just my 2 cents,may not matter but I said it.”

Regardless of his annoyance over Black Friday tradition, Somerhalder wished everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. The star of “The Vampire Diaries” wrote, “Truly a day for thankfulness and family NOT what you are buy people for xmas…Right?:) Enjoy enjoy.” He went on, “Be happy,be merry be full. I’m truly thankful for all of you,thank you thank you thank you!”

In another news, Somerhalder is set to host a charity gathering which features a multi-course dinner and silent auction. He will hold the fund-raising event with his TV series co-star Katerina Graham on December 10. The effort is to benefit The Water Project, an organization that focuses on bringing clean water to inhabitants in developing countries who do not have access to a clean and safe drinking water.
