The ‘Mean’ hitmaker has been chosen to receive the prestigious honor because she’s made ‘a major impact on music’ and has been ‘an incredible role model’ for young women everywhere.Taylor Swift has added more achievement on her list. The four-time Grammy winner is set to receive a prestigious Woman of the Year Award at the 2011 Billboard Woman in Music event, which will be held in New York on December 2. She will be the youngest star in Billboard’s history to receive the honor.

Of why they chose the 21-year-old country singer for the coveted award, Billboard’s Editorial Director Bill Werde explained, “Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music that has transcended, and we’re thrilled to recognize all of her successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award.”

Werde also praised the “You Belong with Me” hitmaker for being an inspirational figure. He gushed, “At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere. I look forward to watching her career continue to flourish in the years to come.”

Taylor has received an award for Top Country Album at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in May for earning five-time platinum selling of her album “Speak Now”. The album also landed at the top of the Billboard 200 chart as it was debuted in October 2010. Taylor also scored a Hot 100 history by charting 11 tracks from the album in a single week.

The Pennsylvania-born singer has been busy promoting her album through Speak Now World Tour, which CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray sets will be released in November. Additionally, the “Mean” singer has nabbed three nominations for the 2011 American Music Awards, that will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20.
