Rihanna Claims ‘C**t’ Is Common Slang Word in Barbados

The ‘Umbrella’ singing sensation admits that she often used the particular foul word to call others in the beginning of her career before her make-up artist told her to stop because it is offensive.Rihanna has defended her fondness for the word “c**t”. In an interview for November issue of British Vogue magazine, the “California King Bed” singer claimed that she used to be clueless about how offensive the foul word is to other people because it is a common slang in her native Barbados.

“That word is so offensive to everyone in the world except for Bajans,” the 23-year-old songstress said. “You know African-Americans use the n-word to their brothers? Well, that’s the way we use the c-word.When I first came here, I was saying it like it was nothing, like, ‘Hey, c**t’ until my make-up artist finally had to tell me to stop. I just never know.”

During the interview, the ex-girlfriend of Chris Brown also explained that she doesn’t want people to judge her from what they saw on the stage. “That’s not me. That’s part I play,” she insisted. “You know, like it’s a piece of art, with all these toys and textures to play with.”

“See, people – especially white people – they want me to be a role model just because of the life I lead,” she further complained. “The things I say in my songs, they expect it of me and [being a role model] became more of my job than I wanted it to be. But no, I just want to make music. That’s it.”

Additionally, the “Disturbia” singer pointed out, “Look, God doesn’t give any more than you can handle. I had to get through a lot of ups and downs – big downs – and a lot of trial and error to get where I am now.”
